Role overview
We’re seeking a Senior Business Development Representative to support sales and market development efforts in the UK region. This is a remote role based in Sri Lanka, ideal for a self-motivated individual who can confidently position Platned as a trusted business solutions provider for potential and existing clients.
Responsibilities
- Drive business development initiatives focused on identifying, qualifying, and converting ERP opportunities within the UK market
- Manage the entire lead-to-opportunity cycle, with the ability to independently close mid- to high-value deals, particularly with enterprise accounts
- Engage C-level executives and key decision-makers, offering strategic ERP insights and demonstrating deep understanding of the buying process
- Respond to inbound leads with consultative and timely communication
- Build long-term, trust-based relationships throughout the sales cycle
- Execute outbound prospecting via calls, emails, and social media to build a qualified pipeline capable of delivering quarterly sales exceeding £250K
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in HubSpot CRM, tracking all activity and engagement
- Conduct detailed discovery and needs assessments to align client challenges with ERP solutions
- Collaborate with Sales Managers for seamless handover of qualified leads while also closing high-value deals independently
- Develop account-level strategies to boost engagement and uncover new revenue opportunities
- Create and execute micro-campaigns targeting specific segments or verticals
- Align with the wider sales team to review target accounts and optimize outreach
- Provide feedback on lead quality, campaign performance, and market trends to support continuous improvement
- Mentor junior BDRs by sharing strategies, onboarding support, and guidance
- Participate in sales planning meetings, offering field insights to shape go-to-market direction
Required experience and skills
- 3–5+ years of experience in business development, inside sales, or enterprise software sales, especially in ERP solutions (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle, Infor)
- Proven ability to independently close ERP deals valued at a quarter million or more per quarter
- Strong understanding of ERP solutions, industry pain points, and solution-based selling strategies
- Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently in a remote environment
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with strong presentation abilities
- Familiarity with HubSpot CRM, Excel, Word, and modern sales tech stacks
- Strategic and consultative thinker with a customer-first mindset
